## RECORD REVIEWS
“Having reviewed two albums last issue, this DE/NJ threesome aren’t abandoning concept on their 12th, Gathering. Which means 15 more songs entitled “Lesson #_” that flash tons of exiting sounding, roaring-riffs 1982 Someone Got Their Head Kicked In So-Cal punk like 1982 Bad Religion, Aggression, Battalion of Saints, Blades, and Youth Brigade—again, guitarist/frontman reminds favorably of Youth Brigade’s erudite bellower, Shawn Stern— following on from the “Cretin Hop” Ramones (“Lesson 206”), and Keith Morris-era Black Flag (“Lesson 220”). You won’t care about nostalgia, just what lessons need learning when they slam out their unapologetic, unpolished, and heavy yet tightly played, tuneful tracks, with more rhythmic rock ’n’ roll and backbeat than 5000 modern punks who wouldn’t know those concepts if Mike Ness personally kicked their butts. 12 more, err, sets of lessons, please!
These first dirty dozen albums are a lot to digest for newbies, so MVOI takes pity and surveys their lessons to date (33, plus two normal-named tracks) on the handy Memories. It’s indeed cream, like the Social Distortion slash and burn of Eleven Eleven, the Motörhead-ish Lesson #110, and the Spits-like, lacerating Lesson #102. Crank it.” Jack Rabid – The Big Takeover April 2024
My Version of It makes a wonderful racket…it will certainly get your attention. Katie Wais – Go! December 2007
