ZEN GUERRILLA (1989-2003)

An influential American rock band formed in the late 1980s in Newark, DE, originally called the Gollywogs. They moved to Philadelphia a couple years later, finally landing in San Francisco in 1994. Known for a high-energy, gritty fusion of blues, garage rock, and soul, the group featured vocalist Marcus Durant, guitarist Rich Millman, bassist Carl Horne, and drummer Andy Duvall. They were notable for intensive touring and releasing music on labels like Sub Pop and Alternative Tentacles.
